Welcome to the Cook County GED Testing Program

This web site has been created specifically for:

Students

Teachers

GED/ABE program and testing staff

and anyone who might be interested in information in regards to the GED and specifically GED testing in Cook County, Illinois.

If you are outside of Cook County but in Illinois, you will need to contact the Regional Office of Education in the county in which you live.  

If you are outside of Illinois, you will need to contact the Department of Education for the state in which you live.

There are currently 15 test sites in Cook County. Each test site has a different testing schedule. Some sites test during the week, others test on Saturdays. Sites test between one and six times per month. Some sites give the GED Test in Spanish as well as English.

If you previously took the GED Test in Cook County and you would like a transcript of your scores (or) a duplicate certificate click here to download the English request form or click here to download the Spanish request form and follow the directions on it.  You can also contact our office at 847-328-9795 and press 0 to speak to a Customer Service Representative.

Note: You will need the Adobe Acrobat Reader on your PC in order to download this form. Your system will advise you if you don't have it and will tell you how to download it.

We only have information for persons who took the test in Cook County, Illinois. If you took the GED Test outside of Cook County, Illinois and you need information on how to take the test (or) on how to obtain a duplicate copy of you scores or diplomas you need to contact the Regional Office of Education (if in Illinois) or the State Board of Education in the state where you took the test.

On January 1, 2002 a new English version of the GED Test was released.
Persons who did not pass the English version of the GED Test by 12/31/2001 lost their previous scores and fees paid and must start the application and testing process again.
